Counselling IN BRISTOL

“down by the sea

where i seek to be free”

– a. bentley

Hello

“My job is to untangle the tangled, to unworry the concerned, to guide you out from cul-de-sacs into which you may have wrongly turned.”

– Kei Miller, The Cartographer Tries to Map a Way to Zion

I am Jeffer, a Bristol based counsellor offering a mix of in person and online sessions to individuals and couples. I view counselling as the safe space where my clients can tell me their story, bring their experiences, good and bad, and explore how to make changes – for a more meaningful life and fulfilling relationships.

Therapy is such a useful place to talk about things that perhaps can not be shared helpfully with family and friends. The themes that my clients bring include low mood, unfulfilling relationships, loss and transition, health concerns, and adult ADHD.

Starting therapy can feel daunting  – my job is to help you feel safe, seen and heard. I am happy to have a conversation with you to see why you are thinking of counselling and why now, and to see if we are a good fit and comfortable working together.

I work at your pace and respond to your needs as they arise. I provide a supportive, inclusive, non judgmental environment for exploring the issues that are troubling you.

I currently have availability for new clients.

Couples counselling can be a safe and supportive space to explore shifts that may have occurred, to have a relationship MOT, or difficult conversations that tend not to go well.

I am here just for you. I work at your pace and respond to your needs as they arise in a supportive, non judgmental way. My job is to make you feel safe and really heard.

In addition to my counselling training, I also have expertise in perimenopause and menopause related issues, Boarding School Syndrome and Creative Writing.

Initial meeting

I offer an opportunity to have a conversation to see if I can help and if we are comfortable working together.

If we are happy to proceed, then we can discuss the best way forward – working together for either short or long term counselling. If not, I can help signpost you elsewhere.

Feedback from Clients

  • Feedback from Clients

    Feel free

"I sought counselling shortly after the birth of my son. I felt overwhelmed and some deeply held old anxieties were rearing their ugly heads.  I felt trapped and I was terrified. Jeffer was warm and open and I found it easy to connect with her and be totally honest about what I was feeling. I now feel free in a way that I have never felt before."

  • Feedback from Clients

    True to myself

"I did feel a sense of loss when our sessions ended and I do still miss the relationship but this is part of the arrangement and one of the reasons it worked so well for me - everything must come to an end! I now feel able to be true to myself and to my family and to be the mum I know I can be. Life is still really hard at times but I know I can cope with it."

    Truly transformative

Working with Jeffer has been truly transformative. Her insight, warmth and understanding has been helpful beyond measure. Our sessions have allowed me to work through childhood trauma, PTSD, fertility issues and a midlife ADHD diagnosis.
She has created a safe and nurturing space for me where I feel able to be challenged and accountable, and to really grow as a person.

    Stressed and struggling

I started working with Jeffer during the pandemic. I was stressed and struggling, but not very good at working out why, and what it was that I needed. At age 38, it was my first foray into counselling and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Jeffer made me feel completely at ease by listening compassionately and professionally, and seemed to have a real knack for gently drawing out what I needed to say. For the past two and a half years, Jeffer has been brilliant at helping me work through limiting beliefs and past trauma, identifying the root causes for unhealthy patterns, and giving me tools and strategies to move forward. I wholeheartedly recommend her.

    Freer and more engaged

Jeffer met my need to process in a creative way, using poetry and writing. The decisions I have made since being in therapy have had long term positive consequences in my relationships. I know myself better, I feel freer and more engaged with the world. I feel as if my ship has a deeper keel to keep my course through rough seas and Jeffer has been my companion in this adventure. I’m very grateful.
